We ask that everyone be respectful of one another, the artwork, and our facility as we work together to provide a safe, inspiring environment. Calder Gardens will not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or any behavior that is abusive, offensive, or unwelcome; anyone in violation of these standards will be asked to leave.

Weapons, sharp objects, and other items that may disturb the peace are not allowed at Calder Gardens.

Please leave large bags at home unless needed for accessibility reasons. Lockers are available in our main lobby on a first-come, first-served basis. Lockers measure 19 x 11 x 19 inches. 

Food and drink are not allowed in the galleries.

Our smoke-free and vape-free space offers fresh air for all.

Calder’s work invites contemplation from multiple vantage points. Please enjoy the art from a respectful distance and refrain from touching the art.

If you are not storing coats and bags in our lockers, please wear your coat and carry your backpack in front of you.

During inclement weather, umbrellas must be wrapped. Umbrella wrap stations are available before you enter the galleries.

Personal photography is welcome with no flash, tripods, or selfie sticks. For press or commercial photography, contact our communications team in advance.

Sketches and reflections are encouraged with notebooks up to 9 x 12 inches. Graphite pencils only.

Our restrooms are accessible and include baby-changing stations.

Breastfeeding is welcome wherever comfortable. Bottles and other types of feeding should be done outside the gallery. Please see a staff member if a more private space would give you comfort.

Children under 15 are welcome with an adult.

There is an accessible drop-off location on 22nd Street between the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and Vine Street Expressway, about 350 feet from the main entrance.

Calder Gardens does not have on-site parking facilities. The closest accessible parking spots are located in the Franklin Institute garage at 271 North 21st Street. Parking is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Calder Gardens is located near several public transit stops. The most direct options on SEPTA are the 7, 32, 38, 48, and 49 bus routes.

We are also near Stop 10 on the Philly PHLASH, a quick and inexpensive shuttle that stops at cultural destinations throughout Center City.

Calder Gardens is close to an Indego Bike share station at the northwest corner of 20th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

There are also several bike racks located on Pennsylvania Avenue.
